An experienced Project Manager is required to deliver structures and shaft works on a major project based in Calvert Green, London. This is a permanent, site‑based role requiring strong leadership, technical competence and proven experience managing complex civil engineering and structural packages from start through to completion.
The Project Manager will be responsible for programme delivery, health and safety performance, commercial control and coordination of site teams and subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Take full responsibility for the planning, coordination and delivery of structural and shaft works on site.
- Manage day‑to‑day site operations, ensuring works are carried out in line with programme, specifications and contractual requirements.
- Lead and manage site teams, subcontractors and supply chain partners, coordinating labour, plant and materials to ensure efficient delivery of works.
- Chair regular site meetings, progress reviews and coordination meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Review and approve risk assessments, method statements and lifting plans.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across site operations.
- Manage project programmes, track progress against milestones and implement corrective actions where required.
- Identify and manage risks, opportunities and constraints to programme delivery.
- Work closely with commercial teams to manage costs, variations, valuations and financial reporting.
- Ensure projects remain commercially viable and delivered within agreed budgets.
- Liaise with clients, designers, engineers and statutory bodies, maintaining strong professional relationships and addressing technical or delivery challenges as they arise.
- Oversee quality assurance processes, inspections and handover documentation to ensure works are delivered to specification and client expectations.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering civil engineering projects with significant structural and shaft elements.
- Strong background in managing complex, site‑based works in live environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary site teams and subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing and temporary works associated with structures and shaft construction.
- Extensive experience managing health and safety on site, including high‑risk activities.
- Solid commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, variations and programme performance.
- CSCS Card (Manager level).
- SMSTS.
- Relevant construction or civil engineering qualification preferred.
- Temporary Works experience or Temporary Works Coordinator qualification advantageous.
