Role Overview

We are currently recruiting for multiple Project Engineers on behalf of a leading groundworks and civil engineering subcontractor delivering works on a major EV Battery Storage Facility in Bridgwater. This is an exciting opportunity to join a large-scale infrastructure project and take responsibility for the technical delivery of key groundworks and civil engineering packages. Working closely with the Project Manager, Site Managers and engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme and specification requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day engineering delivery of groundworks and civil engineering packages.
  • Coordinating site engineering activities and supervising Setting Out Engineers.
  • Reviewing technical drawings, specifications and design information.
  • Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design, quality standards and programme requirements.
  • Managing site surveys, setting out records and as-built information.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, site management teams and subcontractors.
  • Identifying and resolving technical and engineering issues on site.
  • Assisting with planning and sequencing of works to maximise productivity.
  • Monitoring quality control procedures and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Supporting the commercial and operational teams with progress reporting and technical input.
  • Promoting and maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.

About You

  • Previous experience working as a Project Engineer within groundworks, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of earthworks, drainage, roads and sewers, foundations, reinforced concrete and external works.
  • Experience working for a groundworks or civil engineering subcontractor.
  • Ability to interpret and coordinate engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Competent in the use of surveying equipment and engineering software.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple work areas and coordinate site engineering teams.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and project delivery.
  • CSCS card as a minimum.
  • Degree, HNC or HND qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
