We are seeking a highly motivated Sales Manager to drive the growth of a global third-party logistics (3PL) business across the UK. This role is responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing the full sales cycle, and delivering against revenue and profit targets.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in ocean (NVOCC) and air freight, with the ability to build compelling value propositions and develop long-term client relationships. Experience selling value-added logistics solutions such as customs brokerage, warehousing, and distribution is essential for success.
Key Responsibilities- Drive growth of 3PL services within the assigned territory in line with revenue, profit, and volume targets
- Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities through proactive sales activity (including cold calling)
- Maintain a strong and diverse sales pipeline across multiple industries and customer types
- Engage with prospects and customers to present tailored logistics solutions and build long-term partnerships
- Conduct regular client meetings and presentations to grow market share and strengthen relationships
- Independently close new business while collaborating with internal teams for support
- Deliver against defined sales targets, including maintaining a minimum 3x pipeline coverage
- Conduct quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with clients
- Manage administrative responsibilities including CRM updates and expense reporting
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in sales/business development within the UK freight forwarding sector
- Strong background in ocean freight (preferred) and air freight
- Solid understanding of freight forwarding operations and 3PL solutions
- Proven ability to win new business and build long-term client relationships
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Commercially astute with a consultative sales approach
- Well-networked within the logistics industry
- Confident in cold outreach (calls, emails, face-to-face meetings)
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- Must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
