EmTech Recruitment is working with a leading engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Flood Risk Engineer / Flood Modeller to join their Water & Flood Risk team in Central London.
You will work on a varied portfolio of flood alleviation, drainage strategy, surface water management and flood risk projects for public and private sector clients, from planning stage through to detailed design and construction.
The Role
You will manage hydraulic modelling and drainage projects, lead a small team of TUFLOW and InfoWorks ICM modellers, and deliver flood protection and drainage designs to support planning and construction. You will also be client-facing, contribute to fee proposals, and mentor junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead river modelling, hydrological analysis and flood mitigation design
- Produce and review Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies
- Manage and mentor junior modellers and engineers
- Support projects from concept through to detailed design
- Client and project management across multiple schemes
Experience Required
- 5–8+ years’ experience in flood risk, hydraulic modelling or drainage design
- Strong background in flood mitigation, surface water management and FRAs
- Experience managing projects and client relationships
Essential Software
- Flood Modeller / TUFLOW
- InfoWorks ICM
- QGIS or MapInfo
- WinDES / InfoDrain / Flow experience desirable but not essential.
Qualifications & Knowledge
- Degree in Civil Engineering or similar (or equivalent experience)
- Working towards CEng (MICE / CIWEM)
- Knowledge of NPPF, FWMA, WIA, drainage standards and S104 agreements
