Sauter UK is a growing group of businesses, with a combined turnover of around £170M and 800 colleagues across the UK. As we continue to grow and bring our businesses closer together, we’re looking for an experienced UK Group HR Manager to help shape, lead and strengthen our HR approach across the Group. Our preference is for this role to be based from our Glasgow office, although we're happy to consider other locations for the right person.
This is a broad and influential role, combining strategic HR, operational delivery and people management. You’ll work closely with Managing Directors, senior leaders and managers across the business, while also leading and supporting the HR team to deliver a consistent, professional and people‑focused service.
The Role
As UK Group HR Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering our people strategy and supporting the business through growth, change and integration. You’ll provide trusted HR guidance across the Group, support managers with people matters, lead key HR projects and help improve how we attract, develop, engage and retain our people. A big focus of the role will be bringing greater consistency across our businesses, including aligning policies where appropriate, supporting the integration of acquisitions and helping move the Group towards a single HR software platform. This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to the business, building strong relationships and leading a team, while still being hands‑on when needed.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the UK HR team, providing direction, guidance and day‑to‑day support.
- Partner with Managing Directors and senior leaders on workforce planning, organisational change and business growth.
- Provide practical HR advice across employee relations, absence, performance, disciplinary, grievance and capability matters.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, retention and employer branding activity.
- Drive employee engagement, culture, wellbeing and inclusion initiatives.
- Support learning, development, performance management and succession planning.
- Manage reward, benefits, salary review and bonus processes.
- Ensure HR policies, contracts, processes and employee records remain compliant and up to date.
- Improve HR systems, reporting and management information to support better decision making.
- Support acquisition integration and help create a more consistent HR approach across the Group.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an experienced HR leader who can bring structure, confidence and a practical approach to a busy and growing business. You’ll ideally have:
- Strong generalist HR background, ideally within a group, multi‑site or growing business.
- Previous experience leading or managing an HR team.
- Good knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Confidence advising senior leaders and managers across a wide range of people matters.
- Proven ability to manage employee relations cases from start to finish.
- A track record of improving HR processes, systems and reporting.
- Practical, commercial and solutions‑focused approach.
- Strong communicator with the ability to build trust at all levels.
- Exposure to change, integration or business transformation would be beneficial.
- CIPD qualification, or equivalent experience, would be advantageous.
Why Join Us?
This is a great opportunity to step into a visible HR leadership role where you can make a real impact. You’ll be joining a sizeable and growing UK group, with the chance to shape how HR supports the business, improve consistency across our companies and help create a positive employee experience for around 800 colleagues. It’s a varied role, with plenty of opportunity to influence, lead and make improvements that will support the business as it continues to grow.
