The Role

As Project Engineer, you’ll help take projects from initial design through to the point where they are ready to be delivered by the construction team. You’ll bring people, information and plans together, making sure the right questions are asked early, risks are understood, and any issues are picked up before they become problems on site. You’ll work closely with clients, designers, consultants, subcontractors, Grid Operators and our internal teams to keep things moving and make sure projects are practical, compliant and well organised.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Helping manage renewable energy projects through the early planning and design stages
  • Coordinating input from different teams, including electrical, civil, structural, grid and environmental specialists
  • Supporting the preparation of key construction documentation including traffic management, waste management and excavated material plans.
  • Arranging surveys and pulling together the information needed before projects move into delivery.
  • Keeping track of project programmes, budgets, risks and key actions
  • Working with clients to understand what they need and agree the project scope
  • Reviewing drawings, designs and specifications to make sure they are practical and ready for delivery
  • Making sure key health, safety, planning and compliance requirements are considered from the start
  • Supporting design meetings and keeping actions moving
  • Working with consultants and subcontractors to make sure the right information is available at the right time
  • Spotting potential issues early and helping the team find practical solutions
  • Looking for ways to improve value, reduce risk and support successful project delivery

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with a construction or engineering background who enjoys getting into the detail and helping projects move from idea to reality. You’ll bring:

  • Experience working on construction, engineering, energy, infrastructure, utilities or M&E projects
  • A good understanding of drawings, technical information and project documentation
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015 and how health and safety is considered during project planning
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to keep track of several moving parts
  • Good communication skills, with confidence speaking to clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and keep projects moving
  • Experience using project management software such as MS Project or Primavera would be useful
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Renewable Energy, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related subject would be beneficial, although experience is just as important to us

It Would Be Great If You Also Have

  • SMSTS certification
  • CSCS card
  • Knowledge of G99 grid connection requirements
  • Experience working on Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage or grid connection projects

Why Join Emtec Energy?

  • Work on technically interesting renewable energy projects
  • Be part of a knowledgeable and supportive team
  • Join a growing business supporting the UK’s transition to cleaner energy.
