At Emtec Energy, we are growing our pre-construction team and looking to add an Estimator who can take real ownership of the estimating process from early design right through to tender submission. You will play a key role in turning opportunities into live projects, working closely with our pre-construction, commercial and delivery teams along the way. This role is based at our head office in Uddingston. We are a Tier 1 contractor in the renewable energy space, delivering large-scale ground mount and commercial rooftop solar PV projects across the UK from concept through to installation and ongoing support.

The Role

This is a hands-on, influential role where you will be right at the heart of how we win and deliver work. You will be responsible for building accurate and competitive estimates while helping shape our approach to bids and opportunities.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Preparing detailed, accurate cost estimates within agreed timescales
  • Supporting tenders from early stage through to submission
  • Working closely with internal teams to align estimates with delivery strategy
  • Engaging with the supply chain to build competitive pricing
  • Identifying and assessing risks across bids
  • Supporting the Bid Manager and wider team on tender activity
  • Contributing ideas that strengthen our submissions and overall approach
  • Maintaining and developing estimating data and cost libraries

What You Will Bring

We are ideally looking for someone with estimating experience within construction, but we are also open to hearing from people with a solid background in the sector who are keen to move into estimating and have a strong head for numbers. You will bring a good mix of commercial awareness, attention to detail and a practical understanding of how projects are delivered. We are looking for someone who is:

  • Comfortable working with drawings, specifications and technical information
  • Confident reviewing subcontractor and supplier pricing
  • Able to pull together cost plans, budgets and tender submissions
  • Familiar with estimating software (Trimble or similar would be ideal, but not essential)
  • Detail-focused, organised and commercially aware
  • A team player who is proactive and keen to get involved

You will be joining a team that is genuinely supportive, down-to-earth and focused on doing things properly with plenty of opportunity to grow as we continue to expand in the renewables space. Emtec Group is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, supported and able to thrive. If it sounds like something you would enjoy being part of, we would love to hear from you.
