We're recruiting a Mechanical / HVAC Engineer to support a long-term Police estate contract across the North West. This is a site-based, compliance-focused role, carrying out structured SFG inspections on mechanical and HVAC plant. The work is hands-on and practical, focused on condition checks and accurate reporting, rather than design or office-based engineering. Sites are primarily across Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Greater Liverpool.
What You'll Be Doing
- Air Handling Units (AHUs)
- Supply and extract fans
- Booster sets
- Expansion vessels
- Pressurisation units
Typical Tasks Include
- Visual and mechanical condition checks
- Verifying security, mounting and general condition
- Functional testing where required
- Identifying defects or deterioration
- Recording findings for compliance purposes
You'll also carry out non-invasive inspection checks, including visual condition checks, test mechanical integrity and confirmation of labelling and documentation.
Essential Requirements
- Strong practical experience in HVAC Engineering or mechanical building services
- Experience working on-site with plant such as AHUs, fans, pumps, motors, valves and pressurisation systems
- Confident carrying out structured inspections and condition assessments
- Able to work independently and manage your own sites
- Good written skills for clear and accurate reporting
Desirable (but Not Essential)
- Electrical awareness or basic electrical qualification
- Experience working to SFG, HTM or similar standards
- Public sector or Police estate experience
- SSSTS or similar site safety qualification
