Emsans are currently working with a key client who is looking for a Planning Manager to join their expanding team. They specialise in delivering full project life cycle collaboration, supporting clients from early‑stage planning and tendering through to project delivery and delay analysis.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and driven Planning Manager to lead planning and scheduling functions across a diverse portfolio of projects. This role is critical in ensuring robust project controls, accurate forecasting, and effective delay analysis to support successful project delivery and dispute resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and management of project schedules using Primavera P6
  • Oversee planning activities across the full project life cycle, from concept to completion
  • Collaborate with clients, project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure integrated planning strategies
  • Prepare and review tender programmes, ensuring alignment with client requirements and project constraints
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
  • Conduct delay analysis and produce detailed reports to support claims and dispute resolution
  • Provide expert advice on planning methodologies, construction sequencing, and commissioning strategies
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in project controls
  • Mentor and support junior planners within the team

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Planning Manager or Senior Planner using Primavera P6
  • Strong background in engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated expertise in delay analysis and claims support
  • In-depth understanding of project life cycle phases and planning methodologies
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working on complex, multi‑disciplinary projects
  • Familiarity with NEC or other standard forms of contract
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., APM, CIOB)
