About our opportunity:
All the carbon we save, all the materials we recycle and all the waste we divert starts on our yards and with our Yard Operatives. United by a willingness to help out and get stuck in, our Yard Operatives inspire loyalty in our customers, so whenever they think about recycling, they think EMR. No one said protecting the planet would be easy, but with dirty fingernails and well-earned smiles, our Yard Operatives do so much more than just recycle.
What you will be doing:
The face of EMR, you’ll help to make the EMR experience enjoyable and easy for our customers. Once they’ve handed over their unwanted materials, you’ll be the hero in a hard hat that gets it loaded up, transported across the site, unloaded and processed. Our machinery does all the really tough stuff for us, so we need you to regularly check to make sure it’s all working as it should be. And our Depot Manager will think of you as their right-hand person, knowing they can call on you for support.
About you:
We don’t believe in shutting doors on potential, so we don’t ask for qualifications or experience. We can teach you everything you need to know. What we can’t teach is:
- Enthusiasm
- Teamwork
- Smiling through all weather conditions
- Getting stuck in and hands on
If you have these qualities, you’re already well on your way to being an incredible Yard Operative. We’ll happily fill in the gaps by developing your knowledge, skills and expertise on the job. And we won’t stop training you once you’ve reached peak Operative status, because when you work for a global leader in sustainable materials, there is no limit to your career progression.
Who we are:
Our purpose is to create a future where the materials we use don’t need to be extracted from the planet. At EMR, we give new life to unwanted materials. Every year, we recycle 10 million tonnes of metals and plastics, saving 19 million tonnes of carbon from entering the Earth’s atmosphere, diverting waste from landfill and protecting resources and habitats.
We couldn’t do any of this without our team members. In return for all they do, we do everything we can to create an environment of belonging, value, support and growth.
We’re proud to have achieved Great Place To Work status, but it’s about so much more than a badge. It’s about being recognised by our people for the continuous work we do to do better for them:
- ‘The people who work here are from varied backgrounds and have a variety of beliefs, all of which are accepted and respected.’
