About our Opportunity

As a key part of our Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our sites comply with health and safety regulations, monitoring and assessing safety risks and hazards, and implementing measures to reduce the risk of injury. In this development role, you will work closely with all areas of the organisation whilst working through your Apprenticeship study and learning all aspects of the role. This role is aligned with the Level 3 Safety, Health and Environment Technician Apprenticeship Standard. This role offers a rewarding career, but it also has a clear path for progression and development, which means a bright future awaits.
Location: Blaydon, however travel will be included.
Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years old as of September 2025 and hold a full UK driving license to apply for this opportunity.
Annual Salary: £19,000
Assessment day: Thursday 30th October, at EMR Blaydon
What you will be doing
- Develop and implement companywide SHE strategies and policies, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.
- Maintain operational compliance with the Environmental Permit.
- Ensure that systems are effective, and staff understand their importance.
- Be the site expert on SHE compliance and ensure the management team fully understand the requirements.
- Be the SHE point of contact for external regulatory body visits and audits.
- Identify high hazard activities and ensuring controls are in place.
- Overview of SHE training requirements, priorities and implementation.
- Follow risk management processes and implementation to reduce risk on site.
- Conduct incident investigation and conduct root cause analysis.
