As Battery Disassembly and Test Technician you will be part of a leading facility based at our Research and Development site at Duddeston Mill Trading Estate, Saltley, Birmingham which offers candidates a clear pathway to progression.
This opportunity will require candidates to work 7:30am – 4pm for an initial period. Candidates will be expected to work an eventual shift pattern working 7am – 3pm & 2pm -10pm (to be finalised) Monday to Friday .
What You Will Be Doing:
Supporting the operation of EMR’s battery recycling process for the disassembly of High Voltage vehicle battery packs and modules by operating, maintaining & developing the Battery Disassembly Facility.
Key Responsibilities:
• Removal and disassembly of high voltage batteries from vehicle to module level
• Connect batteries to battery cycler for discharging and testing
• Communication of disassembly status via utilisation documents
• Maintenance of all equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s or EMR’s procedures
• Rectification/diagnosis of issues, engagement of Battery engineers where needed
• Operate within and help develop internal standardised operating procedures and local process documents
• Completion of in process records and documentation in order to maintain traceability
• Work in line with company Health & Safety requirements together with use of required PPE
• Performing and following risk assessments
• Developing routines and best practices to ensure product quality
About You:
Useful Experience:
• Minimum BTEC or NVQ level 3 qualification in a relevant field
• IMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement
• Mechanically competent
• Willingness to proactively learn
• Maintain safe and tidy workplaces to 5S standards
• A practical problem solver, capable of evaluating problems through understanding and interpreting facts and data
• Aware of electrical automotive high voltage systems
• An understanding of battery system fundamentals is advantageous
• Experienced with the assembly/disassembly of complex electro/mechanical components and systems
• Operating forklift trucks
• Able to set up and operate basic test equipment to perform diagnostic tests
