The Installation and Commissioning technician will be responsible for the full life cycle delivery of the engineering solution to meet both technical compliance and quality. You will work on your own or as part of a team delivering cutting edge communication and monitoring solutions across the UK’s largest Utility sectors.

The role will be suited to an experienced install and commissioning engineer with a strong all round technical competence, strong interpersonal skills and can demonstrate excellent initiative, analytical and problem solving qualities. This position will expose the candidate to many aspects of SCADA, telemetry, Instrumentation and communication technologies and therefore must demonstrate a technical aptitude and capacity to learn. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a methodical and logical approach to the installation process while working to time constraints.

The I & C technician responsibilities cover the following areas:

  • Installation and commissioning of technical solutions including: Survey, install, commission and support site based control systems and equipment for key clients
  • Responsible for commissioning delivery of the assigned work package/project
  • Support project commissioning and documentation in timely fashion and deliver within agreed timeframe and quality
  • Work with both internal and external stakeholders including the client asset operations team to ensure full integration within the existing framework boundaries.
  • Work within the confines of the design including equipment design and configuration templates
  • Work within the boundaries and constraints of our customers including: Adherence to safety standards when working on sites delivering installation and commissioning duties
  • Compliance with quality standards and industry best practices
  • Great customer interaction, ensuring customer and PM regularly updated on progress

Desirable Experience:

  • Minimum of three years’ installation and commissioning experience
  • Electrical competence important, desirable to C&G, BTEC, NVQ3 or HNC/HND – (BS7671) 18th Edition is required but would support development for right candidate
  • Knowledge, background of engineering – control system solutions/automation, ideally ICA experience
  • Basic understanding of SCADA, PLC’s, RTU’s, HMI and their installation
  • Configuration/testing of manufacturers equipment and working with remote configuration engineer
  • CSCS or ECS, EUSR Water hygiene certs
  • Understanding of electrical and control panel wiring or electrical installation desirable
  • Can interpret technical documentation and provide technical updates to stakeholders
