About Our Opportunity: We are looking for a Fixed Plant Engineering Team Leader to oversee the day-to-day maintenance of plant and equipment at our Cardiff Port operation. You will lead a team of maintenance engineers, coordinate preventative and reactive maintenance activities, and ensure plant reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. This role is critical in minimising downtime and supporting the smooth running of our port and processing operations.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities across fixed plant equipment and infrastructure.
- Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are completed in line with operational requirements.
- Support the delivery of reactive maintenance and breakdown response activities to minimise plant downtime.
- Monitor plant performance, identify reliability issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review RAMS and ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in compliance with company procedures.
- Monitor the condition of conveyors, shredders, cranes, processing equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, motors, gearboxes, and associated fixed plant assets.
- Support the planning of maintenance activities, labour requirements, and spare parts management.
About You:
- Completed a nationally recognised Mechanical, Electrical, Maintenance Engineering, or Fabrication apprenticeship (minimum Level 3), ideally time-served or with higher-level qualifications.
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing fixed plant equipment within heavy industry, ports, recycling, waste, aggregates, manufacturing, steel, or processing environments.
- Strong knowledge of preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance processes.
- Experience working with conveyors, shredders, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and other heavy fixed plant equipment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to maintenance.
- Ability to organise workloads, prioritise tasks, and support a team in a fast-paced operational environment.
