We are seeking an exceptional Managing Director to lead our business through its next phase of growth. Based in Preston, this is a rare opportunity for an ambitious and commercially astute leader to take overall responsibility for a well-established business operating within the technical services, fit out, and installation sectors. Reporting to the Board, you will provide strategic leadership across all areas of the organisation, driving operational excellence, sustainable growth, and outstanding client service.

The successful candidate will possess a proven track record of leading businesses within technical services, specialist fit out, M&E, or installation environments and will have the vision, leadership, and commercial expertise to deliver ambitious growth plans while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver the company's strategic vision, business plan, and long-term growth strategy.
  • Provide inspirational leadership across all business functions, including Operations, Commercial, Finance, HSE, Business Development, and Project Delivery.
  • Drive sustainable revenue growth, profitability, and operational performance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, suppliers, strategic partners, and stakeholders.
  • Identify new market opportunities, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships to support business expansion.
  • Lead the delivery of major technical services, fit out, and installation projects, ensuring quality, programme, and commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure robust governance, commercial controls, and effective risk management across the business.
  • Champion excellence in health, safety, environmental performance, and quality throughout the organisation.
  • Work closely with the Board to provide regular reporting on business performance, strategic initiatives, and future opportunities.
  • Represent the company within the industry, enhancing its reputation and supporting long-term client relationships.
About You

You will be an experienced Managing Director, Operations Director, Regional Director, or Business Unit Director with extensive leadership experience within technical services, construction fit out, M&E, or specialist installation.

You will bring:

  • A proven track record of successfully leading and growing businesses within the technical services, fit out, or installation sectors.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing P&L responsibility.
  • A strategic mindset combined with the ability to make informed operational decisions.
  • Demonstrable experience leading multidisciplinary teams and developing future leaders.
  • Strong knowledge of project delivery, commercial management, operational excellence, and business development.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience developing long-term client partnerships and winning repeat business.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate, and lead organisational change within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Desirable
  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Business Management, or a related discipline.
  • MBA or equivalent leadership qualification desirable.
  • Experience operating within private equity-backed, owner-managed, or high-growth organisations would be advantageous.
  • A strong professional network within the UK technical services, fit out, or construction sectors.
