We are seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to join an established engineering team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Electronics Group Lead, this role plays a key part in setting engineering standards and acting as a technical authority within the team.
You will take ownership of electronic circuit design and multi-layer PCB development, supporting both new product introduction and legacy product improvements.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop electronic circuits and multi-layer PCB layouts
- Maintain and enhance existing PCB designs, ensuring performance, manufacturability, and compliance
- Work across EMC, power management, servo control, processor interfacing, and communications
- Manage electronic component obsolescence, including lifecycle monitoring and alternative component selection
- Lead redesign activity where required due to component changes
- Support production and manufacturing teams with technical queries and root cause analysis
- Conduct design reviews, verification, and validation testing
- Produce and maintain technical documentation including schematics, BOMs, and design reports
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, procurement, and manufacturing teams
- Engage with suppliers and external partners on technical issues and component selection
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Proven experience in electronic design, ideally in a senior or lead capacity
- Strong PCB design experience, including multi-layer layouts
- Good understanding of analogue and digital circuit design
- Experience with EMC/EMI design considerations
- Experience producing schematics, BOMs, and technical documentation
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging capability
- Experience with electronic component obsolescence and lifecycle management
- Proficiency with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, KiCad or similar)
- Chartership or working towards Chartered Engineer status
- Exposure to military EMC standards and harsh environments
- Knowledge of motor/drives and control systems
- Experience with simulation/analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, LTSpice, Simulink)
- Familiarity with FMEA and resilience techniques
- Understanding of supply chain constraints and sourcing strategies
Candidates must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance. This requires proof of identity, right to work in the UK, employment history, and UK residency for the past five years.
