Simulation Systems Engineer / Systems Administrator – Senior Consultant, Defence, Nuclear & Aerospace Workforce Solutions

Location: UK-based with travel to KSA

Contract: Initial 12-month FTC

Salary: Competitive base + hotel accommodation, visa, car hire, and £80–£100/day per diem while in‑country

Security Clearance: Ideally SC‑cleared or clearable (BPSS acceptable)

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to support training and simulation activities for a major defence programme. The role includes several deployments to Saudi Arabia in 2026 (typically 3–4 trips, around 6 weeks each). When not deployed, the role can be performed remotely from anywhere in the UK, with the option to spend time in the Lincoln office for further training and development.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the availability, reliability, and security of simulation and training systems during in‑country periods.
  • Perform configuration, integration, routine maintenance, patching, backups, and system monitoring.
  • Support end users from the RSAF and partner organisations; the prime contractor on this programme is BAE Systems.
  • Maintain and support the virtualisation stack and associated network infrastructure.
  • Participate in customer meetings, support reporting requirements, and identify opportunities through close engagement with users.

Ideal Background:

  • Experience with military or defence simulation software and offline systems.
  • Knowledge of virtualisation platforms (e.g., Nutanix) and Cisco switching.
  • Familiarity with simulation network protocols such as DIS or HLA.
  • Prior experience as an IT Manager or Infrastructure Manager in a C4ISR, land, air, or space domain environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills and cultural awareness when working with international stakeholders.

Training:

  • Product and system training provided in Lincoln (2–3 weeks for experienced simulation professionals; 4–6 weeks for newcomers).
  • All travel and accommodation expenses covered for training if not local.

Location & Working Pattern:

  • Candidates can be based anywhere in the UK, with proximity to Lincoln preferred.
  • Remote working when not deployed.
  • Opportunities to spend time in the Lincoln office to upskill and gain exposure to other products and programmes.
