We are working with a national Retailer who is seeking an ambitious and commercially driven Corporate Business Development Manager to play a key role in expanding their presence into new and untapped markets across the UK. This is a pure new business role focused on identifying, developing, and securing large-scale commercial opportunities.
You will be responsible for opening doors in sectors where the client currently has limited market penetration, building senior-level relationships, and winning high-value contracts that will shape the future growth of the business.
The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to influence business strategy, develop new market sectors, and secure complex contracts across a range of industries including:

You will own the entire sales cycle from initial prospecting through to contract negotiation and signed agreements, working closely with internal stakeholders including Bid Management, Finance, and Operational Delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic new business plan targeting high-value opportunities.
- Build and manage your own pipeline of prospects and large-scale contract opportunities.
- Establish relationships with senior decision-makers across target sectors.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new market opportunities.
- Lead commercial negotiations and contract discussions.
- Collaborate with Bid Managers on public sector tenders and framework opportunities.
- Work with Finance teams to build commercial models and business cases.
- Manage opportunities from initial engagement through to signed contract and handover to Account Management teams.
- Provide market insight and recommendations on how to successfully enter and grow within new sectors.
About You
We're looking for a proven business development professional with experience winning major contracts and creating opportunities from scratch. You will ideally have:
- Extensive previous experience in corporate business development or strategic new business acquisition.
- A strong track record of winning large-scale contracts and generating new revenue streams.
- Experience operating within sectors such as contract catering, foodservice, wholesale, retail, facilities management, outsourcing, or the public sector.
- Knowledge of public sector procurement frameworks and tender processes.
- Experience negotiating complex contracts valued between £10m and £100m+.
- Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to engage and influence senior decision-makers.
- A strategic mindset combined with a hands-on approach to business development.
