Amentum is looking for an experienced Technical Lead Engineer – Mechanical to support one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects — Hinkley Point C, the first new nuclear power station built in the UK in over 20 years. This role sits within the Joint Design Office (JDO) and will play a key role in resolving complex technical challenges, ensuring nuclear safety compliance, and supporting multidisciplinary engineering delivery across the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the resolution of complex technical and design issues across multidisciplinary teams.
- Prepare technical reviews, justification papers, and formal engineering judgement documents.
- Safeguard the integrity of the nuclear safety case and assess the impact of design changes.
- Collaborate with SMEs, technical authorities, contractors, and project teams.
- Provide oversight of design changes and ensure compliance with UK nuclear regulations.
- Promote engineering innovation to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality on the project.
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience in engineering design and onsite engineering environments.
- Understanding of civil–mechanical interfaces and fabrication/welding processes.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
- Previous experience within the nuclear industry and knowledge of safety cases, nuclear safety categorisation, and ALARP principles is highly desirable.
