We are seeking a skilled Communications Systems Engineer to join an innovative team developing Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). This is a hands-on, systems-level role where you will design, integrate, and validate critical communication links to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performance connectivity in advanced aerial platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end communication architectures for UAS platforms, including radios, antennas, and modems.
- Integrate line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight communication systems, including Satcom solutions.
- Perform link budget calculations, RF analysis, and network optimization to guarantee mission success.
- Implement secure and encrypted communication protocols in compliance with defence and industry standards.
- Conduct lab tests, ground trials, and flight campaigns to validate system performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration and operational excellence.
Required Skills & Experience
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in communications systems engineering, preferably in aerospace, defence, or autonomous systems.
- Strong knowledge of RF theory, antenna design, modulation schemes, and network protocols.
- Hands-on experience with software-defined radios, tactical data links, and Satcom systems.
- Familiarity with military or commercial communications standards is a plus (e.g., Link 16, LTE/5G).
- Systems-thinking mindset with excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to obtain UK SC Security Clearance.
