The Role - SENDCo
The successful candidate will take strategic responsibility for the leadership, development, and coordination of SEND provision across the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the SEND provision across KS3 and KS4
- Oversee and review EHCPs, ensuring compliance with statutory guidance
- Coordinate provision mapping and targeted interventions
- Work closely with teaching staff to ensure effective differentiation and inclusive classroom practice
- Liaise with parents, carers, governors, and external agencies
- Line manage SEND support staff and oversee deployment of Teaching Assistants
- Monitor and track progress of students with SEND, implementing strategies to close attainment gaps
- Contribute to whole-school inclusion strategy and safeguarding procedures
- Ensure the school meets all statutory requirements under the SEND Code of Practice
The Successful Candidate Will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant leadership experience in SEND
- Hold the National Award for SEND Coordination (or be working towards it) - desirable
- Have recent secondary school SENDCo or senior SEND leadership experience
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory frameworks
- Have proven experience managing EHCP processes and annual reviews
- Show strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Be committed to inclusive education and raising outcomes for vulnerable learners
