Empowering Learning are working with a Secondary Special Needs School in Halifax who are seeking Behaviour Support Workers/Sport Coaches to support in their classrooms on a 1:1 basis or within small groups. These roles are to start after the May Half Term and are temp to perm for the right candidate.
Pay: 100-110 a day Monday to Friday school hours 8.30 - 3.30pm, later stays occasionally when free training is being delivered.
The school caters for Primary and Secondary pupils supporting Children with Autism and Challenging Behaviours and communication needs. You will be involved in classroom duties and off-site recreational activities.
Duties:
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing educational programs and activities for students.
- Provide support to students with special needs, including those with autism.
- Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Help students with daily tasks, such as personal care and hygiene.
- Support students in their academic and social development.
- Collaborate with the lead teacher to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the lead teacher.
- Assist with classroom management and behaviour management strategies.
Skills:
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs and challenging behaviours.
- Knowledge of special education practices and strategies.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with children.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle challenging behaviours.
- Knowledge of toddler care and development is a plus.
