About the Role

Empowering Learning is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive SEND School in Scarborough to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant. The school supports pupils across a range of ages and abilities, including children with SEND and SEMH needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children's learning, wellbeing, and development in a nurturing school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils in the classroom, both one-to-one and in small groups
  • Assist with behaviour management using de-escalation and restorative strategies
  • Help create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team
  • Support pupils with additional needs to access learning effectively

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will:
  • Be confident working with children and able to build positive relationships
  • Communicate effectively with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Have experience or a strong interest in working with children, particularly those with SEND/SEMH needs
  • Hold a driving licence (desirable, not essential)
