About the Role
Empowering Learning is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive SEND School in Scarborough to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant. The school supports pupils across a range of ages and abilities, including children with SEND and SEMH needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children's learning, wellbeing, and development in a nurturing school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils in the classroom, both one-to-one and in small groups
- Assist with behaviour management using de-escalation and restorative strategies
- Help create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team
- Support pupils with additional needs to access learning effectively
Requirements
- The ideal candidate will:
- Be confident working with children and able to build positive relationships
- Communicate effectively with pupils, staff, and parents
- Manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Have experience or a strong interest in working with children, particularly those with SEND/SEMH needs
- Hold a driving licence (desirable, not essential)
