Vacancy – PRU experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location – Durham
Start date – ASAP
Working day- Monday to Friday, 8.00am- 16.00 pm
Salary – 110 to 120 per day

We are working in partnership with an SEMH Special School based in Durham, who are looking to appoint an SEMH Teaching Assistant with PRU experience. This is a full-time vacancy, seeking an outstanding candidate to join the school on their journey of growth. The successful candidate can expect to work in a challenging but rewarding environment. The school leadership help and support all members of staff to help them achieve their full potential.
The job
- To provide support and guidance to the pupil by removing barriers to learning.
- To support and facilitate change and transition along the journey to excellence.
- To be a consistent support to avoid any further disruption.
- To be an active participant in supporting the timetable in all it\’s different context.
- Complete assessments and records of students progress and achievement when needed.
- Work 1.2.1 and group settings to support pupils with complex needs.
- Able to engage students in their lessons and support with the work.
- Experience of behaviours that challenge and good deesclation techniques.
- A calm and resilient individual with experience of supporting students
The successful candidate will
- Hold a Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification.
- Have experience in an SEMH/ PRU setting.
- Hold relevant experience / qualifications suited to supporting learners with additional needs.
- Have experience supporting learners with SEMH, behaviours that challenge & SEND needs.
- Be resilient, dedicated and reliable.
- Level 2 team teach trained would be preferable.
