Empowering Learning is proud to be working with a number of inclusive and supportive primary schools in and around the Barnard Castle area, and we\’re on the lookout for dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join our team.
This is a full-time position -perfect for those with a background in education who are committed to helping every child reach their full potential.
About the Role:
You will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of complex and high-needs SEN, including but not limited to:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 or small group support tailored to individual learning needs
- Implementing EHCP strategies in collaboration with SENCOs and teaching staff
- Using creative and adaptive approaches to engage children in the classroom
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
About You:
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in a school setting, ideally with previous work supporting children with SEN
- Confident and compassionate, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children
- Resilient and proactive, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledgeable about safeguarding and child development
- Comfortable supporting with personal care, where needed
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Team Teach, or similar)
