Empowering Learning is working in partnership with a range of primary and secondary schools across the Northallerton area, and we're looking for enthusiastic, hardworking and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join our team! The Role

As a General Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting the class teacher and helping pupils get the most out of their school day. This is a busy and rewarding role, where no two days are the same. You'll be expected to:

  • Support the class teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils where required.
  • Help pupils engage with their learning and build confidence.
  • Support children and young people with a range of learning needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively.
  • Create a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assist with classroom activities and preparation of learning resources.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers.
  • Encourage pupils to develop their independence, confidence and social skills.

We're looking for Teaching Assistants who are:

  • Confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.

  • Flexible and adaptable in a busy school environment.
  • Professional and enthusiastic in their approach.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualified in Teaching, Learning and Support (or an equivalent relevant qualification).

Essential Requirements

To work with our schools, you will need to be able to provide:

  • Professional references covering your last 2 years of work and/or education history.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for and purchase an Enhanced DBS.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • A reliable and professional approach to work.
