We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and resilient Sports Coaches to work within SEN provisions across Northumberland. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with additional needs through sport, physical activity and positive engagement. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting confidence, teamwork, wellbeing and positive behaviour while supporting learners with a range of special educational needs, including SEMH, ASD and behavioural needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging sports and physical activity sessions
- Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom
- Build positive and trusting relationships with learners
- Encourage participation, teamwork and emotional wellbeing
- Promote positive behaviour and help manage challenging situations calmly and effectively
- Work closely with teaching staff and support teams to meet individual pupil needs
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
- Experience within SEN, SEMH or alternative provision settings is advantageous
- A background in sports coaching, mentoring or youth work is preferred
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- A patient, resilient and positive attitude
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable
Safeguarding Requirements:
- An enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service is preferred
- Applicants without one must be willing to obtain a new enhanced DBS
