Empowering Learning is currently recruiting caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistants to work within a range of primary, secondary, and specialist educational settings across Newcastle Upon Tyne. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with a variety of additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.
The Role
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with additional needs
- Support learners with conditions such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Help pupils develop independence, social skills, and confidence
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents
- Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom
We Are Looking For Candidates who:
- Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational, care, youth work, or support setting
- Are patient, nurturing, and resilient
- Have a genuine passion for supporting learners with additional needs
- Possess strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Can adapt to the individual needs of pupils
- Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Qualifications
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
- Relevant SEN experience is highly desirable
- Graduates considering a career in education, psychology, social work, or therapy are encouraged to apply
