Empowering Learning is currently recruiting caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistants to work within a range of primary, secondary, and specialist educational settings across Newcastle Upon Tyne. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with a variety of additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

The Role

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with additional needs
  • Support learners with conditions such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Help pupils develop independence, social skills, and confidence
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents
  • Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom

We Are Looking For Candidates who:

  • Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational, care, youth work, or support setting
  • Are patient, nurturing, and resilient
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting learners with additional needs
  • Possess strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Can adapt to the individual needs of pupils
  • Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Qualifications

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Relevant SEN experience is highly desirable
  • Graduates considering a career in education, psychology, social work, or therapy are encouraged to apply
