Empowering Learning are working with a Special Needs School in Halifax who are seeking Behaviour Support Workers/Sport Coaches to support in their classrooms on a 1:1 basis or within small groups. These roles are to start ASAP and are temp to perm. Pay: £100-£110 a day Monday to Friday school hours 8.30 - 3.30pm. The school caters for Primary and Secondary pupils supporting Children with Autism, Complex Needs, Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties and Communication needs. You will be involved in classroom duties and off-site recreational activities.

Duties
  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing educational programs and activities for students.
  • Provide support to students with special needs, including those with autism.
  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help students with daily tasks, such as personal care and hygiene.
  • Support students in their academic and social development.
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the lead teacher.
  • Assist with classroom management and behaviour management strategies.
Skills
  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs and challenging behaviours.
  • Knowledge of special education practices and strategies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with children.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle challenging behaviours.
  • Knowledge of toddler care and development is a plus.
