Empowering Learning are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN school in Wandsworth for a Farm Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is a unique opportunity to combine animal care with supporting young people with additional needs. The school caters for boys aged 5-19 and has a fully operational on-site farm, providing animal-assisted learning as part of its therapeutic approach. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of animal welfare while helping create meaningful learning experiences for pupils.
The Role
- Carry out the daily care, feeding and cleaning of a wide range of animals, from livestock to reptiles.
- Maintain high standards of animal welfare, hygiene and farm presentation.
- Support students during practical farm-based learning activities and animal therapy sessions.
- Ensure health and safety procedures and farm risk assessments are followed at all times.
- Work closely with teaching and therapy staff to provide a safe, engaging and positive environment for pupils.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working within the animal care sector.
- Holds an animal care qualification (desirable).
- Has experience caring for a variety of animal species.
- Is reliable.
