Are you a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant looking for your next opportunity? Empowering Learning is working with a welcoming secondary school in Darlington to recruit a committed LSA to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a student with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential within a supportive school environment.
Your Role
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with SEN throughout the school day.
- Support the student's academic, social and emotional development.
- Adapt learning activities to meet the student's individual needs.
- Encourage independence while providing appropriate guidance and reassurance.
- Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff to implement personalised support strategies.
- Promote positive behaviour and help create an inclusive learning environment.
- Build a positive, trusting relationship that enables the student to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
What We're Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs, either in a school or similar setting.
- A patient, caring and resilient approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to remain calm and adaptable in different situations.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Team Teach training (desirable but not essential).
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.
