This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference by supporting deaf and hearing-impaired students to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential within a further education setting.
The Role
- Provide communication support for students using British Sign Language (BSL).
- Interpret lessons and classroom discussions accurately and professionally.
- Support students both within the classroom and during college activities.
- Work closely with lecturers, the SEND team, and external professionals to meet individual learning needs.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and academic progress.
- Assist with preparing learning materials and adapting resources where required.
- The Ideal Candidate
- Holds a recognised
- BSL qualification
(Level 2 or above - Level 3 preferred).
- Has previous experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired learners.
- Has experience working within education, ideally in a college or secondary setting.
- Is patient, compassionate, and committed to inclusive education.
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or is willing to obtain one).
