An outstanding independent prep school in Berkshire is recruiting a Classics Teacher for September 2025. This is a full-time and permanent position.

This independent school aims to ensure pupils develop as independent lifelong learners and to provide a first-class, all-round education for every child. The Head wants pupils to enjoy an education that is both happy and balanced. Each child is supported and staff inspire an appetite for learning and stimulating intellectual curiosity. The school's ethos promotes a desire for achievement and success both in and outside of the classroom, but also to have fun and enjoy learning and school life.

The Head is seeking a passionate and engaging Classicist who will join a thriving and dynamic Classics department. The successful candidate will be deeply committed to the success of every pupil whom he or she teaches. You will deliver inspiring and stimulating lessons and have an appropriate degree. You will be expected to teach Latin from Year 6 to Year 8 and prepare pupils for their Common Entrance and Scholarship exams. There might also be opportunities to teach Classical Greek, although this is not essential.

All teaching staff are expected to take a full part in the wider life of the School through extracurricular involvement. The school is looking for someone who has a demonstrable enthusiasm for Classics.
