Empowering Learning are working in partnership with a welcoming secondary school in Cardiff who are seeking an experienced and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people, particularly those with additional learning needs. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support learning, deliver interventions and provide targeted support for students across the school.
The Role:
As a HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting classroom learning by delivering agreed activities under the guidance of teaching staff. You may be required to work with individuals, small groups or occasionally lead learning activities with whole classes.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils' learning, progress and development.
- Working closely with teachers to plan and deliver engaging learning activities.
- Providing 1-2-1 support for pupils with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their goals.
- Monitoring and recording pupils' progress and achievements.
- Delivering interventions and targeted support where required.
- Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
- A recognised Teaching Assistant / HLTA qualification.
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a secondary school setting.
- Experience providing 1-2-1 support for pupils with SEN.
- A strong understanding of supporting students with additional learning needs.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
- A patient, proactive and supportive approach.
Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Two professional references from recent employers.
- The right to work in the UK.
