My client is seeking a Bicycle Workshop Mechanic to work within a school environment, supporting Key Stage 3 & 4 students with life skills and BTEC qualifications. You must have an interest in the role and a love of working with bikes and young female pupils who need support within the workshops with their academic skills and physical practice of fixing and maintenance of bikes.
The right person will be responsible for providing expertise regarding maintenance advice to ensure the best customer care and experience. This role requires working closely with female students who require additional academic and pastoral support. Applicants must be able to provide appropriate support in line with safeguarding and school policies.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Diagnosing/identifying problems for accurate service and repair.
- The ability to carry out all types of service provided, including safety services, general services, and full services within allocated time.
- A high level of product knowledge, knowing supplier brands.
- Understanding or having an interest in learning how to use tools and guidance on any repair.
- Working in a safe and efficient manner and adhering to all school policies and procedures relating to health and safety.
- Working with students in small groups to support them.
Qualifications/Skills:
- 1+ years experience of working as a mechanic within a professional high-paced environment or working in a school support position.
- Ability to work within a team and take instruction.
Hours of Work: 8.00 to 4 pm, weekdays only.
Experience supporting children with learning difficulties or disabilities is essential, as well as being comfortable working with challenging behaviour. Excellent interpersonal skills are required to work effectively with staff and students. Key Stage 3 - 4 experience is necessary, with a commitment to a 5-day-a-week contract.
