We are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a secondary school in Birmingham with an immediate start available. This is a full-time, long-term role with strong potential to become permanent for the right candidate. The successful applicant will teach English Language and English Literature across all Key Stages.
In addition to delivering high-quality English lessons, the role will include providing cover for other subjects when required, ensuring continuity of learning across the school. Candidates must be fully committed to the long-term nature of the role, with full planning and marking responsibilities expected. Please note, this is a challenging school with high levels of behavioural need. A strong, experienced teacher with excellent classroom management and resilience is essential to succeed in this environment.
Essential Requirements:
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised equivalent qualification
- Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Ability to adapt quickly and deliver effective lesson cover when needed
- Safeguarding Level 1 trained (support available if required)
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Key responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons at KS3 and KS4
- Assess, monitor, and support student progress
- Provide cover for other lessons as required across the school
- Maintain strong classroom and behaviour management
- Contribute to the wider school community and departmental development
