About the Role: Are you passionate about helping children overcome behavioural challenges and achieve their full potential? We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Behaviour Support Worker to join a supportive school team in Rochdale, starting as soon as possible. This role is ideal for individuals who have experience working with children who exhibit challenging behaviour and who are committed to providing positive, tailored interventions to support their learning and well-being.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will work closely with students who require additional support in managing their behaviour, helping to create a safe, inclusive, and structured environment where they can thrive academically and socially. You will be part of a dedicated team that works collaboratively to ensure the best outcomes for every student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with behavioural challenges
  • Develop and implement effective behaviour management strategies in collaboration with teachers and other staff members
  • Support students in managing their emotions and behaviours, ensuring they can engage fully in school life
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents/carers
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with students, fostering trust and confidence
  • Assist in the development of Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs) tailored to individual student needs
  • Work with external agencies, such as educational psychologists or SENCOs, to ensure holistic support for students
  • Promote positive reinforcement and rewards systems to encourage desirable behaviours
  • Safeguard and promote the well-being of all students

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour (in a school or similar setting)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach to supporting students
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable Criteria:

  • A relevant qualification (e.g., in behaviour management, SEN, or Youth Work)
  • Experience working with students with specific needs such as autism, ADHD, or SEMH
  • Level 2 Team Teach training (or willingness to undertake relevant training)
