We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and resilient Sports Coaches to work within SEN provisions across Northumberland. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with additional needs through sport, physical activity and positive engagement. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting confidence, teamwork, wellbeing and positive behaviour while supporting learners with a range of special educational needs, including SEMH, ASD and behavioural needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging sports and physical activity sessions
  • Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with learners
  • Encourage participation, teamwork and emotional wellbeing
  • Promote positive behaviour and help manage challenging situations calmly and effectively
  • Work closely with teaching staff and support teams to meet individual pupil needs

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
  • Experience within SEN, SEMH or alternative provision settings is advantageous
  • A background in sports coaching, mentoring or youth work is preferred
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A patient, resilient and positive attitude

Safeguarding Requirements:

  • An enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service is preferred
  • Applicants without one must be willing to obtain a new enhanced DBS
