We are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated Sociology Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Birmingham from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term role with strong potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
The successful applicant will teach Sociology across Key Stages 4 and 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students' understanding of key sociological theories, research methods and contemporary social issues. The role offers an excellent opportunity to inspire students and support strong academic outcomes at GCSE and A Level.
This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) seeking to develop their career within a supportive and well-led department.
Requirements:- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised equivalent qualification
- Experience teaching Sociology at KS4 and KS5
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Excellent subject knowledge and understanding of the Sociology curriculum
- Safeguarding Level 1 trained (support available if required)
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Sociology lessons across KS4 and KS5
- Teach key topics including sociological theories, research methods, education, families, crime and deviance, beliefs in society and social stratification
- Assess, monitor and support student progress, providing effective feedback to maximise attainment
- Prepare students for GCSE and A Level examinations, helping them achieve their full potential
- Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment
- Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development and the wider school community
