Are you a resilient, calm and committed Behaviour Mentor looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference? EmpowerED is recruiting a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist SEMH school in Slough, supporting children with significant social, emotional and mental health needs. This is a highly rewarding opportunity for a Behaviour Mentor who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to education and achieve positive outcomes.

This is not an easy role. Pupils have often experienced trauma, disrupted education and adverse childhood experiences. Some can display highly challenging behaviours, including verbal aggression, physical dysregulation and difficulties with emotional regulation. The successful Behaviour Mentor will understand that behaviour is a form of communication and will remain calm, consistent and compassionate, even during the most challenging moments.

The Role

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who have experienced significant barriers to learning.
  • Support students both in the classroom and through one-to-one interventions.
  • Help pupils develop emotional regulation, resilience and positive coping strategies.
  • Work alongside teachers and therapists to implement behaviour support plans.
  • Promote engagement, attendance and positive learning behaviours.
  • Provide consistent encouragement and celebrate every step of progress.

  • Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A positive, proactive and solution-focused mindset.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
