Empowered Personnel is currently recruiting for an experienced Spray Operator to join a busy and well established manufacturing operation in Coventry on a permanent basis. The Spray Operator will take responsibility for the full coating process, ensuring all components meet the required standards for appearance and corrosion protection. In this role, the Spray Operator will operate high volume low pressure (HVLP) spray guns with an automated paint feed system on a moving track, manually coating a range of metal components in line with customer specifications. You will manage the complete spraying process from initial set up through to final clean down.
Spray Operator Job Role:- Preparing, setting up and checking spray equipment, including high volume low pressure (HVLP) spray guns, paint delivery systems, conveyors and curing ovens, ensuring they are clean, correctly assembled and operating effectively
- Monitoring environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity to support correct spraying, curing and finish quality
- Mixing and preparing paint in line with manufacturer specifications, ensuring correct viscosity and even solids distribution prior to use
- Carrying out spray pattern tests on paper or card to confirm correct gun settings before production spraying
- Spraying sample panels to verify coating quality and conformance prior to coating production parts
- Applying coatings using correct paint spraying techniques to achieve consistent coverage, correct film build and a high-quality finish
- Identifying and preventing paint defects such as runs, sags, dry spray or poor coverage
- Inspecting your own work and supporting team output through visual checks, adhesion testing and coating thickness measurements
- Completing full clean down of all spray equipment and work areas after use, including flushing lines and stripping spray guns
- Ensuring Health and Safety compliance at all times, including correct use of PPE and effective operation of spray booth extraction systems
- Supporting production flow by assisting with component loading when not actively spraying
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties as requested by senior staff to support
