A well-established and fast-paced food manufacturing business in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead its on-site engineering function. This is a key leadership role, initially offered as a 6-month fixed-term contract, with an opportunity to become permanent.
The Role
Reporting into senior site leadership, you will be responsible for leading the engineering team and ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of all site assets. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, developing, and motivating a team of engineers and supervisors
- Ensuring delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and efficient response to breakdowns
- Driving a proactive maintenance culture focused on reliability and root cause analysis
- Managing engineering budgets, spares, and contractor activity
- Supporting site KPIs across safety, quality, delivery, and cost
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve performance
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and food safety standards
About You
To succeed in this role, you'll need to be a strong, credible leader who can balance hands-on problem solving with strategic thinking. You will ideally have:
- Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or Senior Engineering Leader within manufacturing
- Background in food, FMCG, or a highly regulated production environment
- Strong electrical and/or mechanical engineering knowledge
- Experience managing maintenance systems, KPIs, and engineering budgets
- A track record of driving improvements in reliability and performance
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
