We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team within our residential children’s homes. We support children and young people who are all under 18 to have as close to a family home experience as possible, whilst supporting children to try new things, access education, learn new skills, play, and have fun whilst developing their independence skills in a loving and nurturing child focused environment.

Our children and young people live in Ofsted registered children’s homes. We believe this model can bring some of the best outcomes for children. All our homes are modern, spacious, and luxurious inside, with private bathrooms. We also have a head office at Prockters Farm in Taunton, where there are large training and meeting rooms for face-to-face training and staff engagement events. We enjoy company BBQs, team events or Christmas parties.

Salary: £13.25 p/hour + £50 per sleep-in – without NVQ Level 3/4; £14.31 p/hour + £50 per sleep-in – with NVQ Level 3/4

Shift Pattern: 2 days on 4 days off. Working 16 hours per day with a sleep-in across both days.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To take responsibility in ensuring the provision of a high quality of therapeutic care to children and young people.
  • To ensure appropriate standards of practice are maintained that are consistent with principles.
  • To exercise the management of support to young people individually and within a group by the development and use of positive relationships.
  • To maintain all records and administration.
  • To identify and support the religious, ethnic, gender and cultural needs of a young person and to contribute to meeting them by exploring facilities in the area and assisting the young person in making contact.
  • To contribute to the implementation, monitoring and reporting on individual care plans for looked after children.
  • To attend all staff/internal meetings and contribute to staff team building.
  • To take responsibility for developing a safe environment for yourself and our children and young people.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of risk assessments as appropriate.
  • To communicate openly and regularly with the manager, providing verbal and written reports as required, including welfare of Service Users.
  • To provide informal guidance to new home staff with the agreement and support of your line manager.
  • To undertake any other duties within the post remit, including working at different homes as needed.

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or similar qualification / NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) – essential
  • Two or more years of residential experience with children and young people – essential
  • Full UK driving licence – essential
  • Personality: calm, caring, level-headed, respectful, honest – essential
