Location: Near Bedford MK43 Excelsior Group Limited is a growing, family-run principal contractor delivering residential schemes across the Midlands and South East, typically ranging from £6m£25m.
We specialise in low-carbon construction and MMC, with a focus on building high-quality homes efficiently, responsibly and with the lowest possible environmental impact.
With an exciting portfolio of live projects and a strong pipeline ahead, were looking for an experienced Buyer to join our close-knit team.
As a hands-on business, youll work directly with senior management, take real ownership of procurement and play an important role in how our projects are delivered.

Salary: £45,000
£55,000 depending on experience The Role Youll take ownership of procurement across our residential projects and be part of the Commercial team keeping projects on budget and on programme.
Youll have the freedom to negotiate, challenge costs, develop our supply chain and improve the way we buy.
Key Responsibilities Procure materials, plant and services across all projects from groundworks to completion.
Negotiate pricing and terms to achieve the best overall value.
Plan procurement around project programmes and site requirements.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Track market pricing, availability and lead times.
Challenge costs and identify savings without compromising quality.
Manage purchase orders and work with Finance to keep costs accurate.
Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply or delivery issues.
Drive our just enough, just in time approach
reducing over-ordering, negotiating buy-backs and minimising waste.
What Were Looking For An experienced Construction Buyer, ideally with around 10 years in the industry.
Strong groundworks buying knowledge.
A solid understanding of construction materials, plant and the supply chain.
Commercially sharp and a confident negotiator.
Organised, accurate and able to stay ahead of several projects at once.
Comfortable working directly with QSs, Planners, Site Managers and suppliers.
Good Microsoft Office skills.
Relevant qualifications are useful, but experience, commercial instinct and attitude matter more to us.
