The role is primarily focused on preparing year-end accounts, alongside Self Assessment tax returns and supporting clients with Making Tax Digital (MTD). You'll spend most of your time preparing accounts, tax returns and supporting working papers for review, rather than managing a large portfolio of clients. We're looking for someone with good UK accountancy practice experience who understands how accounts and tax returns come together, can spot potential issues and is comfortable working through routine queries independently. The position is office-based in Cottingham, working approximately 20–25 hours per week. We can consider different working patterns, including school hours. If you enjoy preparing accounts, have a good understanding of personal tax and take pride in producing accurate, well-organised work, we'd like to hear from you. Assisting clients with their Making Tax Digital for Income Tax obligations, including digital record-keeping and quarterly updates. Supporting the preparation of year-end tax information and final declarations under MTD, where applicable. Keeping up to date with relevant changes to personal tax and MTD requirements. Other responsibilities Liaising with clients to obtain missing records and resolve routine accounts and tax queries. Assisting with monthly or quarterly management accounts where required. You'll also have experience preparing Self Assessment tax returns and a good understanding of how personal tax works in practice. We're looking for someone who can spot when something doesn't look right, identify missing information and work through routine issues rather than simply passing them on. You may be: AAT qualified (Level 4); part-qualified ACCA or ACA; or qualified by experience with solid UK practice experience. We're more interested in your practical ability and experience than the letters after your name. You'll also need: Good experience preparing year-end accounts for UK businesses.
