We are looking for a reliable, experienced and trustworthy freelance handyman/caretaker to help maintain our serviced accommodation and rental properties in High Town, Luton. The properties include serviced accommodation units, rental properties and commercial units, so we need someone practical, flexible and comfortable dealing with both planned maintenance and reactive issues. This would suit someone local to LU1/LU2 who is looking for consistent ongoing work and can attend quickly when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- General property maintenance and repairs
- Cabinet door adjustments, handles, locks and minor carpentry repairs
- Furniture repairs, flat-pack assembly and general snagging
- Filling, sanding, painting, decorating and touch-up works
- Small plumbing repairs, leaks, blockages and fitting replacements
- Minor electrical works such as socket changes, light fittings, bulbs and basic fault checks
- Door, lock, shelving and fixture repairs
- Checking and reporting issues with smoke alarms, emergency lighting, extractor fans, washing machines and dryers
- Courtyard, entrance and exterior upkeep, including weeding, tidying and seasonal tasks
- Attending urgent guest or tenant issues when required
- Providing photo/video updates and short job reports when requested
Requirements
- Must be local to LU1/LU2, ideally within 15-20 minutes of High Town, Luton
- Proven experience in property maintenance, caretaking or multi-skilled handyman work
- Honest, reliable and able to work independently
- Comfortable attending both planned works and reactive call-outs
- Able to communicate clearly with management, guests, tenants and contractors
- Own basic tools required
- Own transport preferred
- Comfortable using a smartphone to send photos, videos and job updates
- Usually available between 11am-3pm for serviced accommodation access, with other times by arrangement
- Must be professional, presentable and respectful when attending occupied properties
Ideal Candidate
The ideal person will be someone dependable, local and practical who can become our regular maintenance contractor. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can solve small issues without drama and is happy to build an ongoing working relationship.
