Our clients, a leading Property Services company, are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor. This opportunity offers the chance to join a driven, people-focused and entrepreneurial team, specialising in painting and decorating and associated planned refurbishment works across the South West based out of Plymouth.
They have been an established and leading property services company for over 75 years, based across England and Wales, in over 18 locations and 32 Business Units. They are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work as part of their fantastic Painting team. The main customer base will be Social Housing and Council/Local authority, Housing Associations, so highlighting any experience in these sectors or projects on your CV would be beneficial.
You will join their dedicated commercial and operational team, who specialise in Painting and Decorating and associated planned refurbishment works. A painting background isn't essential, though if you have any relevant experience, please mention it on your CV or summary document as that will give you a distinct advantage.
Ideally, they are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with experience dealing and working with direct labour teams, time sheets, etc. Any background in painting, brickwork, plastering, roofing, civils, or new builds in terms of QS could work for this role along with tendering, estimating, and refurbishments, but dealing and working with direct teams is a significant advantage.

The Quantity Surveyor role involves:
- Measuring and preparing cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any commercial risks and mitigation
- Preparing cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities
- Working closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity labour targets are agreed before contract start
- Building strong client, supplier, and subcontractor relations
- Completing and analysing weekly reporting from site, ensuring adequate cost information is included
