What will you be doing?
Reporting to the Shift Team Leader you will carry out fuel loading duties ensuring day to day compliance with all aspects of the offloading systems including, daily routine lifting equipment inspections, on site traffic management systems and any other checks to systems within your area duties.
Summary of key responsibilities:
- Managing day to day logistics and planning of deliveries to site
- Fuel stock management and reporting
- Carry out fuel analysis quality checks and input data on computer
- Carry out ash collection loading and offloading
- Carry out day to day loading and offloading of general site deliveries
- Assist with routine maintenance when needed
- Assist the operations team to ensure that the plant is in a fit and correct state for return to service following maintenance, outage or other prolonged shutdown
- Carry out routine site cleaning as scheduled or required
- Work with the day operations team and when necessary change work patterns to meet the needs of the business
- Be able to safely operate a Telehandler and Front End Load Mechanical shovel (Training will be provided)
- Adhere to the companies Safety Rules and associated procedures.
Qualifications & Knowledge to succeed
- A good level of practical Operational experience of driving and operating heavy plant machinery
- A good understanding of all HSE aspects is a fundamental requirement
- Full Driving Licence and/or Front-end loader licence certification is essential
- Strong organisational, logistics and planning skills
- Ability, although not essential, to operate and carry out front line daily checks on the following equipment: Front End Loaders, telehandlers, Forklifts, Hydraulic systems, traffic management and weigh bridge facilities
- Excellent oral/written communication skills with experience in writing reports
- Familiar with a number of computer applications including Microsoft Excel
- Good interpersonal skills, self-motivated, flexible and committed attitude
- Excellent communication and motivational skills
- Preferably has experience in the biomass power generation industry operations and maintenance.
- Exposure to heavy process plant maintenance activity

Whilst working as a Shift Operations and Fuel Handling Technician at BWSC we offer a competitive starting salary of £34,000 and a great total reward package including:

This role is a full-time role contracted for 40 hours per week, working a 24/7 shift pattern Monday to Sunday. Some occasional and ad-hoc national travel may be required.
