Do you have substantial knowledge and experience in maintenance and management of a biomass fired plant? If so, you might be our new Maintenance Manager at our Hooton EFW plant.

What will you be doing? As Maintenance Manager, you will report directly to the Plant Manager whilst working closely with the Operations Manager and QHSE Advisor. A core focus of the role is also to ensure the plant and apparatus is maintained with respect to safety, environmental, OEM and industry recognised best practice guidelines, to deliver the highest levels of availability, reliability and efficiency, whilst always maintaining engineering integrity. You will be a key member of the site management team in a fast moving and dynamic installation delivering on contractual obligations to the client in relation to plant operations and strategic objectives.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maximising the availability of the plant and taking proactive measures to improve plant reliability.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules, including daily, weekly, and annual plans for boilers, turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Have responsibility and accountability for the management, performance and development of the Maintenance team and their associated activities.
  • Augment plant efficiencies and engineering solutions.
  • Produce detailed plant technical reports for any loss of generation incidents.
  • Organise the outage planning, scheduling and co‑ordination for the site.
  • Be responsible and accountable for departmental budget control in line with derived and approved annual budgets.
  • Manage the inventory of critical spare parts, sourcing components, and coordinating with vendors to ensure that necessary materials for repairs are available.
  • Adhere to all Company Policies & Procedures (including but not limited to) those specified in the Employment Handbook, H&S Policy, EMS System, IMS System, Management Guide and any financial/accounting systems.

Skills and knowledge required to succeed:

  • You have a strong technical education e.g., as a Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineer, preferably combined with a commercial background.
  • You have significant experience in the Power Industry in a managerial role, preferably with experience from a biomass fired power plant.
  • You work seamlessly with MS Office and/or similar software, and you have experience with finance and accounting, as well as reporting on management level.
  • You are experienced with safety legislation and environmental permits, and with ISO9001/14001/45001 and their application.
  • As an experienced people manager, you rely on your natural impact, flexibility and cooperative disposition.
  • You are self-motivated and enjoy handling a variety of tasks in an ever‑changing setting, always looking to ensure long‑term success.

This role is a full-time role contracted for 40 hours per week. Some occasional and ad‑hoc national travel may be required.
