What will you be doing?
Reporting to the Fuel Handling Team Leader, you will be responsible for overall fuel handling duties from fuel reception to by-product removal in a safe and reliable manner.
Core Duties
- Operate the fuel handling and by-product plants with respect to safety, environmental and operational limits at all times, whilst maximizing availability, reliability and efficiency.
- Carry out day-to-day duties, including but not limited to routine Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and vehicle pre-use checks, fuel handling routines, plant inspections and ensure all on-site traffic management and weighbridge systems are operational.
- Undertake all required loading and unloading activities for general site deliveries, including fuel, by-products and all plant and office deliveries.
- Carry out periodic checking of the fuel quality delivered to site, to ensure it remains within specification and to undertake as requested the monthly audit/stock take of the fuel held on site.
- Provide operational support to the operations and maintenance teams to maximize plant performance and safety, particularly with regards to general defect rectification, planned and first line reactive maintenance and fault finding.
- Ensure all fuel handling defects/works/routines are recorded within the site's Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Provide support for all planned outages as required, which may require periods of standard ‘Day working’.
- Adhere to health, safety and environmental management policies and assist in the creation/development of all site operations procedures, so they remain accurate, suitable and sufficient.
- Adhere to all Company Policies & Procedures (including but not limited to) those specified in the Employment Handbook, Health & Safety Policy, Integrated Management System and any financial/accounting systems.
- Carrying out responsibilities as authorized and as defined within the company's safety rules and associated procedures.
Qualifications and Knowledge to succeed
- Knowledge and experience of the safe operation of large mobile plant (Loading Shovel, Log Handler, Forklift Truck, etc.) will be a distinct advantage.
- A priority candidate would also have the following:

- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to take on board feedback constructively
- Work well under pressure
- Ability to operate and control equipment
- Flexible and proactive attitude
- Desire to succeed
- Basic IT skills for carrying out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device, fill in a daily log, enter and process data in spreadsheets
- Someone who could also start immediately would be a preference.

This role is a full-time role contracted for 40 hours per week, working an 8-hour shift pattern, Monday to Saturday. Some occasional and ad-hoc national travel may be required.
